On behalf of the team at EDSFAT I would like to say a huge congratulations to John and Elaine who were married this weekend. John who spent a number of years as our Chairman whilst we were a fellowship met Elaine during a team event. Elaine has been a member of the team since birth and is our current Deputy Manager.
The day went well and I think you will all agree Elaine looked amazing. As they head off on an amazing adventure in Canada I wish them all the best for the future and look forward to welcoming them back to team business soon!

Firstly a HUGE thank you to everyone who came to see us in the LID on Saturday and supported our team by buying your supplies from us – your custom reflective badges and of course playing our exciting tombola.
Sunday was also great for us – we ran some 2 sessions on why Automated Defibrillators are needed, how they work and how we can teach them to leaders and young people… Thanks again to everyone who came to see us – the certificates will be posted out this week! Robert also had a fun morning on the training field with yet another tombola.
See the photos from Gilwell in our gallery
See you all next year!

This year we will be in the Market Place (LID) at the reunion selling our usual first aid bits and bobs, Hi Viz and Making custom reflective badges also we hope to be chatting to people we haven’t seen for a while! – On the Sunday we are running two sessions in the CIC looking at the need for Automated External Defibrillators – The theory behind how they work, and some thoughts about ways to teach young people this easy and life saving skill. We would love for you to come along.
CPD Certificates available to Health Care Workers and students!
(Or anyone else who wants them)
Hope to see you there! Matt and the gang from EDSFAT
To everyone in EDSFAT
The following is a message from the DC:
To everyone in Eastbourne & District
It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Roger Gibbs passed away yesterday.
A gentle man, a dearest and caring friend, a true Scout, now at peace and no more pain.
All our thoughts and prayers are with Frances, and his son, Steve, daughter Sue and grandson Nick at this incredibly difficult time.
Regards
Christine
To add to that Roger was a dedicated member of EDSFAT and often the voice of wisdom and experience. Despite being unwell Roger continued to support the team and was in good spirits, with his humour entertaining us only 2 weeks ago at the Acorn Hike, even managing to persuade me to buy some nice whisky to share at the 30th Birthday Party.
Our thoughts and prayers are of course with Frances and his family at this time. I am sure you will all join with me in offering Frances all the support she needs at the moment. If anyone wishes to send cards you are welcome to post them to me and I will make sure they get to her.
Next week we have the EDSFAT 30th Birthday Party on the calendar, after careful consideration and discussion with other team members it has been decided that this event will continue, all team members and families past and present are still welcome. We will have some time on the Saturday for reflection, if anyone has any memories they wish to share they would be welcome, if you don’t feel you can say them yourself please email them to me and I will read them on your behalf.
We have the option to stay over Saturday evening and will therefore be in Bushy Wood on Sunday morning. During Sunday morning we will hold a Scouts Own, hopefully in the chapel for anyone who wishes to come and say some prayers. – Please let us know if you intend on joining us for all or part of the weekend so we can arrange catering.
I will of course keep everyone updated with funeral arrangements as we find out.
Yours in Scouting
Matthew Jones.
EDSFAT will be registering with the CQC. Keep an eye out for details.
We will also be becoming a registered training centre for the Association of First Aiders. EDSFAT training will then be externally recognised with members able to achieve the First Aid at Work qualification and OFQUAL credits.
I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped with the “Diamond Quest” camp, Continue reading
